The wind has changed this morning, a fresh south easterly is whipping some warm, european air over us blowing offshore and flattening the rare and tiny ripples.
Yep, it’s flat.
Well, pretty much.
We are an hour or so up from low tide and so I guess that there might just be a tiny ripple pushed in by that tide but it’s not going to be one worth hanging around for. There’s no real swell generator out there, no Atlantic storms to stir the waters. Not yet.
The wind is likely to weaken gradually through the day though and we can but hope that the clouds thin and allow some brighter weather through too. Right now the sky is a jumble of silver and grey clouds bumbling around each other. There are hints of blue, outlined by silver but you have to look for them.
If that wind does ease up then we might just see a foot or so of very tired surf collapse ashore. It could be worth dragging the longboard out for, later.
Or it could just be a day to visit the Royall Cornwall Show?

If you want to go shopping though, why not drop in on us?
We have loads of new stuff hanging on the rails ready for Summer.
Summer wetsuits from O’Neill, Xcel and Alder are hanging alongside surf accessories from FCS and O&E while Reef flip flops are sat next to Vans beach and skate shoes. The newly launched Vissla range of clothes are alongside rails of Brixton Mfg, Captain Fin Co, Reef, Lost, Coastees and the newly in Passenger range as well as our our own Shop logo’d garments.
We have sunglasses from Bolle, Ray Ban and now the brand new dBlanc (and how great are they!)!
Time for a new board for Summer?
Then take you pick from our wide range of boards. We have longboards, short board, fun boards, soft boards, finless boards and all sorts! Al Merrick, Haydenshapes, Meyerhoffer, Sol Life, …Lost, Beach Beat, Hawaiian Soul and Webber, we should have something to suit!
And if we haven’t, we can get it!
So, drop in on us this weekend if you’re around the area!!

No, it really is flat, flat around here this morning, that vast and still body of water without a ripple on it giving it a differently beautiful look.
The wind is a bit strong for a SUP session, it’s amazing how much of a sail your body is even in a light breeze! You could be blown somewhere you don’t want to go in this wind!
But, as always, it does have its own charm here, even when it’s flat.

Surf Forecast for Saturday 7th June 2014

The surf should be bigger today and it could be brighter. But each forecast is showing something different.
It all depends on that low pressure system and how long it loiters just over there. Just a small twitch in its direction could dramatically change our weather expectations.
We will probably end up having an okay weather day with the wind having backed to the south and the surf scratching itself up to a couple of feet, maybe just a tad bigger and building only very gradually throughout the day.
Yep, it should just about be okay today and with just a little luck it could turn out to be way better than that!

Surf Conditions for the Weekend

The weekend could still go either way, for waves as well as the weather.
The surf should be bigger, a couple of feet for Saturday, maybe getting a bit bigger for Sunday.
The wind shouldn’t be too strong and is likely to blow mainly from the south, with just a chance of twitching to the south east at any time for any length of time over the weekend. Which is good and maybe not so good; it should be good to improve the shape of any waves but could also flatten any little waves too!
So, you’re going to have to be on it again to get the best out of it this weekend!
But with an eye on the tides and an eye on the wind, we should be able to enjoy some fun and clean surf.
Some forecast sites are showing mainly bright weather for Saturday afternoon through Sunday while others are showing rain and gloom throughout!
Hmm, I’m going with the brighter stuff, so you might want to wear some waterproofs!
Have a great weekend, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!
