Constantine (2*):  8 to 10 feet

Ha! The wind has finally calmed and switched offshore, while a milk blue sky is spreading its cheer across the horizon and a light smothering of frost holds the marram still.
A light, light north easterly breeze is drifting across the bay, trying hard to shape those thundering waves as they gallop to shore.
The tide is too high right now and the swell is too thick and heavy, too big to fit itself into that high tide bay. Give it a couple of hours though and we should see some some booming and peeling, hollow waves in the big to real big size range.
There will be better places to surf today and it’s only really worth paddling out here if you are surf-fit and hungry but, again, give it a couple of hours and that swell is likely to even itself out and calm a bit.
It is just a little too big for itself right now, a little too angry and a little too much.
This afternoon could just be really very good though!

And if you are looking for an upgraded wetsuit or surfboard then we will be offering at least 30% OFF all of our XCel wetsuits in another WEEKEND FLASH SALE with a mighty £100 OFF all of our Channel Islandand ….Lost surfboards, along with lots of other offers just to tempt you into the warmth and cosiness of our tiny little surf shop this weekend!!

Harlyn (2*):  3 to 5 feet

Four feet plus of high-tide bumped and heavy-swell lumped surf is rolling through the early winter morning marine haze, a thick mist caused by that cold, cold air meeting the (relatively) warm Atlantic water.
The north easterly breeze is onshore here but is so light that it’s not having too much of an effect yet, although an offshore would obviously make for cleaner and sharper conditions.
As the tide drops we should see some sharper and cleaner, more hollow conditions but, of course, that breeze could easily turn into an annoying onshore wind just as the tide eases its way out.
But it will still be a fun alternative if conditions on the other side of the headland are a little too demanding. And it is shaping up to be a fabulously bright and cheery winter’s day anyway, so it could just be a good opportunity to go on an exploratory surfari!?

Surf Forecast for Sunday 7th January 2018

A fresh north easterly wind is going to keep temperatures right down today in spite of a gorgeously clear and bright mid-winter sky.
That same wind will have caused the swell to ease off too, although we should still be enjoying a decent three to four feet of beautifully shaped surf rolling our way all day long.
Make the most of it, there’s another depression starting to make its way in our direction for midweek!

Surf Conditions for the Weekend

Storm Eleanor left her mark this week, with mighty swells grinding along our coast, throwing huge waves into our bays and onto our beaches while those storm force winds only gradually eased as the first week of the year roared its way onto the calendar.
But finally that wind is starting to ease.
Ease and switch drection.
Saturday could just bring epic surfing conditions to the north coast of Cornwall with those still big enough, left over swells from Eleanor being groomed and manicured by the calmer, offshore, north easterly winds.
Bright but cold sunshine and offshore shaped, churning and barrelling waves will tempt us all in but remember that it is likely to be still bigger and more powerful than it looks.
Those still fresh north easterly winds are going to shrink the swell size quite quickly though, especially through Sunday but we should still be enjoying a decent couple to three feet of offshore shaped winter surf!

Have a great weekend, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!
