There’s a very pleasant looking couple of feet or so of clean and lined up surf in the bay this bright and cheery morning.
The breeze is light and the sky is bright as those glassy little hip high peelers race across from the Point all blue and white and gleaming and glistening.
Given that the weather forecasts were all predicting a dull and dreary weekend, we do seem to be getting away with it; so far it’s as light and bright as you could hope for at the start of May!
The surf is a little disappointingly small but it is very rideable, not the three foot plus stuff that we have been hoping for, well not yet anyway but there is a decent foot or two of clean and sparkling and glide able waves. And there are those very occasional sets too, those ones that are going to tempt you in, the ones that you can see lining up from way out, promising bigger things. If you have the patience!

No, it’s pretty much flat around here again this morning, a glassy pool of blue with teasing shin-high wavelets washing onto the beach. A great place for a SUP or a Kayak this morning but don’t bother with the surfboard, that’s for the other side today!

Surf Forecast for Holiday Monday 5th May 2014

Maybe that swell will be here by today?
Three feet of well travelled swell is expected but it should really have arrived yesterday! Let’s hope that it’s not waiting for the wind to swing onshore to blow it our way!
But it should be a half decent three feet today with light south south easterly or maybe just southerly winds.
And again, the weather sites are showing overcast and dreary conditions but we might get away with it again and enjoy some sunny summer weather in this little corner of the Cornish coast!

Surf Conditions for the Holiday Weekend

We should just about hang on to those small swells, hopefully building with the tidal pushes as the holiday weekend slides over us, a couple of feet of smoothly lined up, ten secondish wave-period stuff, sometimes lightly slopped by the varying breezes but generally that fun and cruisy kind of surf, the sort of stuff that you often enjoy without realising it.
After saying that, mainly light breezes are expected to breathe over us for most of the weekend with just enough strength to groom that anticipated small but very surfable little swell all the way through the holiday weekend as well.
In fact this holiday weekend is looking like a mainly bright and cheerful one with very pleasant little waves!
Have a great weekend, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!
