Ah, the winds of winter are blowing fresh across the beach again this morning, that brisk northerly blow bending the marram and sculpting the dunes.
A couple of feet of steely blue surf is crumbling over the shallows and tumbling lazily ashore beneath that threatening sky high rise cloudbanks.
Give it a few hours and we will be enjoying a completely different day as this low pressure limps away to bother the rest of the country, while high pressure starts to think about settling over us.
The wind is likely to stay fresh though!

Harlyn (1*):  1 to 2 feet

A foot or two of sloppy grey junk surf is tumbling ashore here this morning, at the feet of a hyperactive keep-fit class enjoying the early morning morning freshness of that gusting north wind.
The surf is rubbish and the weather is straining to be better than a January’s day but, again, give it a couple of hours and we will be enjoying a completely different world!
The sun will be shining and the birds will be singing but that cold northerly wind will continue to gust ashore keeping the surf small and choppy.

Surf Forecast for Thursday 10th August 2017

No surprises are expected today as that northerly wind continues to blow cold air down the coast, making a mess of the already small but getting smaller surf.
But the sky should be clear(er) and the temperatures should increase even if that surf is likely to be very missable!

Surf Conditions for the Rest of the Week

More onshore winds, mainly blowing from the north west along with small and localised little wind swells will continue the recent theme of lacklustre surf and mixed weather well into this week.
The weather should brighten up through midweek but that north westerly wind will keep temperatures feeling lower than they might be, all the time the surf staying in that two to maybe three feet at the biggest size range.
So, it’s not looking in any way great this week but there should be enough weather and waves to keep most of our visitors happy enough!
have a great week, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!
