We hope to be able to report on the actual surf conditions each or most mornings and try to predict the next day's conditions. If we don't then the conditions are that bad (or good?).
Our scale for measuring conditions is the universal one; 1ft (barely rideable - your choice), 2-3ft (hip to shoulder height when trimming across the wave), 3-4ft (head high and great), 4-5ft (that little bit bigger), 6ft (very rare - well overhead), 8ft (rarely gets bigger in this country but has been known), 10ft (very rarely rideable in this country only a few breaks can hold this size). 12ft + (get yer jet ski, yer big wave gun, kiss yer family and friends good-bye and head for the hills - but I've never seen it this big and rideable in this country).

The swell is likely to have built just a wee bit again but otherwise it's everything as normal, with a solid, lined up swell marching towards us and lightish offshore breezes giving it all loads of shape. It could be worth a little exploration today because somewhere (probably a few somewheres really) is going to be epic. Six foot and offshore - how often can you say that with any confidence?
The steady thump of a rolling groundswell is looking set to keep to its rhythmic pace. Whirling low pressure systems are parked to the west of us, while a mighty wall of high pressure has built up over us. So, offshore winds, colder air temperatures but excellent surfing conditions look set to prevail for a good while yet.
It's looking set to be a bit of an epic week! It may be a frustration to all the photographers out there as we're likely to be seeing a lot of dull light conditions but for the rest of us, it's all looking good. Have a great week!
