Here it is! The new website from Constantine Bay Surf Store, at last! So we're kicking off 2010 with a fresh new look, fresh new ideas and a great big dollop of fresh new snow. What won't change though is our love for riding those waves and helping you to ride them too. Here at our little surf store, tucked away amongst the rugged headlands and surf drenched bays of North Cornwall, we will continue to provide the very best equipment, the very best service and, yes, the very best surfcheck (well, for Constantine and Harlyn anyway). The other big talking point of this brand new year is of course the weather. The surf has been okay, indeed way better than okay on occasions but the weather, well that has been very, weathery. Bone chilling wintery winds have been breathlessly pushing across the fields and open headlands always teasing with threats of snow flurries and sleet and freezing rain. Not the most inviting conditions to tempt you into the surf but certainly thinning the crowds and strangely snuggly, once you've made that hideous sub zero change into your wetsuit. Ice cream headaches are becoming part of the regular paddle-out experience but then so too are solo sessions (well, accompanied occasionally by the odd seal), stunning sunsets (and big fat full moon dawns), precision shaped sandbars and those post-surf pub sessions. But you have to love those booties, gloves and hoods, without them it ain't such fun.Big congrats to Surtwisted.com's Tony Plant on taking over the editorial reins of 'Pit Pilot'. Check the current issue of 'Surfers Path' for more background on Big Tony and check surtwisted.com for loads of his artwork and stunning big wave water photography.Meanwhile the Hawaii wanderers have returned, Toby Donachie, Adrian (Fluid Juice) and Nathe Bennetts, all nicely tanned and surfed out and desperately looking forward enjoying some more 'real' waves (!?). there's a piccy here somewhere of Tobes charging Waimea, real waimea that is. So he should be ready to take on the Harlyn low tide grinders then. And with most of the rest of the crew by now settling nicely into that hedonistic riot that is the Goldcoast, winter rolls pleasantly along. Keep checking back, we're hoping to update the news and views (and not just my views, remember) section much more frequently along with our blog. And of course you can find us on Facebook, Twitter and all those other cyber hangouts but we're most commonly hanging out in real life either at the shop or in the sea.Have a great new year.Des
