We hope to be able to report on the actual surf conditions each or most mornings and try to predict the next day's conditions. If we don't then the conditions are that bad (or good?).

Low Tide:
10.03
(2m)
High Tide:
15.55
(6.3m)
4' - 5'
It's a breezy morning, much milder than it has been even though that wind is blowing in from the north west.
And with the wind blowing from the north west, you know that the surf is going to be windswept and sloppy.  Actually it must be north north westerly or something because it's not as bad as it could be!  The wind seemed to peak in the middle of the night when it was a bit of a window rattler but this morning it is much lighter.
But it is still strong enough and onshore enough to make for sloppy, bumpy and messy surf, four footish under a mass of dark and brooding cloud.  It could all improve towards high tide this afternoon though.  Just as long as that wind doesn't pick up too strongly again!

Toby (Donachie) and Cheyne borrowed a couple of our less mainstream boards the other day to give them a work out in these clean conditions.  The finless Seaglass Tuna was gliding and the weird little Meyerhoffer Lemondrop gave that old school feel to modern hacking manoeuvres.  Or that's what I was told anyway.  Here's a vid to watch at vimeo.com/36075023 . I would just say that this little film is in chronological order.  The first wave Tobes had on the finless Sea Tuna is the first wave that he has had on a board like that.  He adjusts quite quickly don't you think?

That north (maybe north north) westerly wind is breezing straight in here this morning, making for sloppy and choppy conditions.
There are plenty of waves but it is all a bit mixed up, a sloppy and messy picture.
Not the place to spend a relaxing Sunday that's for sure.  On the other hand I am always banging on about how Harlyn can be fun in an onshore, so....
Nah, I think I'd rather the other side today.  At least there are some bigger if lumpier walls!

Our scale for measuring conditions is the universal one; 1ft (barely rideable - your choice), 2-3ft (hip to shoulder height when trimming across the wave), 3-4ft (head high and great), 4-5ft (that little bit bigger), 6ft (very rare - well overhead), 8ft (rarely gets bigger in this country but has been known), 10ft (very rarely rideable in this country only a few breaks can hold this size). 12ft + (get yer jet ski, yer big wave gun, kiss yer family and friends good-bye and head for the hills - but I've never seen it this big and rideable in this country).

Surf Forecast for Monday 6th February 2012

Hmm, it could just be good again!

Light offshores and a solid, well travelled little swell.  It should brighten up too!
Yep, three foot, lined up, even and crisp, breaking at all our favourite places.  Lovely!

Surf Conditions for the Week Ahead

A rolling, even and relatively powerful little swell is rolling our way through the week. And with the wind having had a little onshore relax through the weekend,  it is looking to swing offshore by Monday morning and lighten, ready to hold those waves up ready for us to enjoy.

Yep it is looking like a very nice start to the week with pumping, clean surf and warmer air temperatures than last week.  The weather is looking a bit mixed but we should see enough brightness and, if the surf is that good, it doesn't really matter does it?
Have a great week, whatever you're doing!
