We hope to be able to report on the actual surf conditions each or most mornings and try to predict the next day's conditions. If we don't then the conditions are that bad (or good?).

High Tide:
11.13
(5.7m)
Low Tide:
17.43
(2.7m)

It's pumping!
Four foot (bigger here and there) walls of glass are unfolding themselves across the sand and rocks, reflecting that bright and shiny sunrise in a million different angles.
The car park is almost full, for maybe the first time in a few months at this time of the morning and there's a couple of dozen already making for a stretched out lineup.
Light offshores are forecast along with loads of bright sunshine and so I think that I can safely say that we are in for a very good day!

It has that weird slop to it all around here this morning, as if a rip is running through it - but it's not.  It could easily clean itself up as the tide gets higher, there's barely any wind and what there is is offshore.  But with the other side firing on all four, why bother waiting?

Our scale for measuring conditions is the universal one; 1ft (barely rideable - your choice), 2-3ft (hip to shoulder height when trimming across the wave), 3-4ft (head high and great), 4-5ft (that little bit bigger), 6ft (very rare - well overhead), 8ft (rarely gets bigger in this country but has been known), 10ft (very rarely rideable in this country only a few breaks can hold this size). 12ft + (get yer jet ski, yer big wave gun, kiss yer family and friends good-bye and head for the hills - but I've never seen it this big and rideable in this country).

Surf Forecast for Friday 3rd September 2010

So, whaddya reckon?  Shoulders hurting?  Sinuses filled with saltwater wine?  Tingling sunburn?

Well, get used to it because it's going to get good today!  Real good!  And bigger......

Surf Conditions for the Weekend

A pumping, rhythmic swell, steady south easterly (offshore) winds, bright, bright sunshine and an emptying lineup.  September is here and this is what it's all about.  Shame that the sun may disappear for a wee while on saturday but hey ho, it should still be cooking!

Have a great weekend, whatever you're doing!
