The air is almost still as dawn explodes over the far horizon on another spectacularly beautiful morning. The sky is clear, a hazy blue stretching across the ocean while the beach and dunes seem to be relishing the recent inactivity.
And all the time that rhythmic little swell is smoothly pulsing its way to shore.

Forecast for Monday 27th April 2020
We might see the start of a change in the weather today but maybe not until later, if at all. Light breezes will start out from the north west and end up from the south west, that sharper but drier breeze of early morning being replaced by something milder but maybe damper by evening.
But overall we can expect another pleasant enough day.
Conditions for the Start of the Week
That high pressure system that has been parked over us for a while will eventually drift away this week but only to be replaced by some fairly benign little weather fronts, for most of the time.
The week should start out in pretty much the same flavour as we have been enjoying for a while now but it is likely to feel a little cooler, that early morning breeze carrying a little bite.
The small waves will be cleaned up during midweek as the breeze backs to the south east , shaping and smoothing the two to three feet of taboo surf.
Well, it’s not the surf that is taboo, it’s the getting there – If you can’t stroll down then don’t go.
By the end of the week blustery onshore winds are going to be pushing bigger swells our way, enforcing a natural lockdown on all surfing activities as those bigger waves wash everyone ashore.
So, very much a change to our recently settled isolation routines as the weather changes, if only for a while.
Stay safe, stay happy, stay home, wash your hands and have a great week, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!
According to our malicious local paper in West Cornwall – the RNLI and police have banned all water use since Easter.
They’ve been treating surfers like vermin for weeks though.
And – the govt has recently said driving to exercise is ok if the drive is much shorter than the exercise!
Total confusion.
What’s the true legal situation please?
I’m assuming that the government’s statement is the one to follow and I also think that we all know the rights and wrongs but some may ‘bend’ it to suit. Travelling in a herd to party surf at any break isn’t exactly welcome at the best of times but certainly not now and yet it is happening.
I still think that it’s common sense and there’s nothing confusing.
If you can’t stroll to the water without meeting anyone and then paddle out pretty much on your own then why are you there? You can kid everyone on and argue semantics but I think that it is pretty straightforward.
But then I’m not a legal beagle either so you might want to put the question to someone more qualified to answer it!
