Layers of cloud are stretched across the sky in ribbons of grey, blue and pink, while a golden sunburst dawn clambers over the other horizon this Christmas Eve morning.
The surf is not so great, a few feet, probably four or so, of junk surf blown raggedy by a fresh (and chilly) north westerly wind is all that we have this morning. It’s not that enticing or welcoming but if you’re keen enough you will probably be able to catch a bumpy one or two.
And the water is (relatively) mild. But the south coast is going to be the place to head for some clean waves, although maybe quite small?

And I wish each and every one of you a very merry and peaceful Christmas!!

Ah, it’s all a bit mushy and sloppy over here too, that north westerly wind having its effect, blowing straight onshore.
There’s a couple to maybe three feet of surf and it would probably be more fun than the other side, or at least less work but it’s not that great.
Yep, for clean surf, it’s a trip to the far coast for some small but clean stuff (and a warmer or two in the Pub afterwards?).

A massive sunburst dawn burst down the valley behind Harlyn this Christmas Eve morning!

Surf Forecast for Christmas Day 2014

That same north westerly wind will be blowing all day so you don’t have to worry about missing out on any surfing along this coast, it will be onshore and junky everywhere, all day this Christmas Day.
So, if you fancy a journey out this Christmas Day then the south coast will be calling – it could just be very good over there today!

Surf Conditions for Christmas Week

North and north westerly winds are going to blow onshore over the festive period, making for bumpy and sloppy surf all the way along this coast. The weather should be fine, a bit colder but clear and bright. The south coast is looking really promising for the whole week if you have the time and desire! But it looks like the weekend before we will see anything more surfable on this stretch of coastline.
Have a fantastic Christmas, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!

I was surfing on a lump of rock in the Atlantic last week and loved this Christmas tree!
Merry Christmas One and All!
