It’s a chilly one this morning!
That rasping westerly wind is moving mountainous columns of dense cloud while at the same time turning the air colder than it has been for a good long while.
And so the surf is a mess again, three feet of mixed up and messy waves are bouncing around the bay, breaking here and breaking there but not really focused on breaking anywhere.
The wind is forecast to edge a degree or two more southerly and so Harlyn might start to show some quality as the day goes on.

Harlyn (3*):  2 to 3 feet.

A couple to three feet of wind warped waves are standing tall before toppling to the beach this morning, an autumnal greens shadowing those early morning waves.
The wind is a little too sideshore for it to be as good as it can be but the forecasts are showing a move to a slightly more southerly direction as the day goes on, so conditions should continue to improve. Especially through this afternoon’s rising spring tide.
Throw in a bit of clear sunshine and it could actually turn out to be a good afternoon!

Surf Forecast for Saturday 1st October 2016

The wind is forecast to bluster in from the north west today, making a bit of a sloppy mess of all our local surf breaks.
There should be the same three to four feet of swell bouncing in but the wind is likely to chop it up quite a bit.
South coast anyone?

Surf Conditions for the Rest of the Weekend

Onshore winds are going to continue to blow in through the weekend, the south westerlies of Friday veering more to the north through Saturday before returning to the south west for Sunday.
The swells are likely to gradually ease off through the weekend as well but still staying mainly in the three feet range.
And so Saturday looks to be a day of onshore winds and thick and lumpy, mainly four foot surf breaking sloppily with those onshores blowing in at all of our surf breaks. Saturday evening might show some cleaner and calmer conditions but it is still likely to be mostly sloppy everywhere.
By Sunday the wind is likely to have quietened and swung to the south west, onshore at our main breaks but offshore at our sheltered spots. That swell is likely to have weakened as well though, leaving Harlyn with only small surf, maybe in the two foot range. But hopefully a very pretty and organised two feet!
The start of next week is looking really very promising though!
