The sky is huge this morning, a summer blue roof of lightness reaching to the horizons, the sun already warm and cheering while the breeze is light and still offshore.
Yep, we can look forward to another fabulous summer’s day of high temperatures, light winds, clear skies and maybe even some fun surf!
Swell lines can be seen shadowing their way into the bay on a fast filling tide with the odd small but beautifully shaped little peeler reeling off the Reef. The swell is forecast to more than double through the day but it is starting from a very low jump off point!
Still, we should be surfing some fun ones by this afternoon, in between engaging in the Battle of the Foamies competition and Fun Day at Harlyn that is! And it’s looking like a fabulous day or that!!

Harlyn (1*):  0 to 1 foot

Lines can be seen!
Tiny, glassy smooth, steep blue lines that might just be rideable are shadowing their way through the deep water stillness of a near high tide.
And the swell is forecast to slowly build while the wind should stay calm, the afternoon tide full of the promise of more waves for later!
I’ve been to plenty of major surf contests which have run in less, so I don’t envy the organisers of the Battle of the Foamies competition deciding on the schedules of what promises to be a epic event!
The good news is that it is all going to get better and better as the day rolls on!!
So I hope that you have your fancy dress costumes ready and your paddling arms toned – it looks like a fabulous day ahead for everyone!!!

Surf Forecast for Sunday 1st July 2018

So, we could just see a little change in the weather today!
These past days filled with warm and settled, gorgeous weather might not have completely disappeared just yet but we could just see the threat of something wetter and thunderier (!?) rolling our way today.
But the surf should be better!
A couple to three feet of curling and smooth, peeling surf should be gliding our way all day long, the breeze light and offshore , the air still warm.
It could just rain though!

Surf Conditions for the Battle of the Foamies Weekend

Well the big surfing event of this summer, the ‘Battle of the Foamies‘ is on today!!
A fancy dress surfing extravaganza offering an amazing array of prizes will go down at Harlyn Bay with entry open to everyone and anyone!
It is expected to be a massive event and it is hoped that huge amounts of money will be raised to help the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Harlyn Surf Life Saving Club – both massively important to the Young Guns of the area.
So come on down and drop in on what promises to be a fabulous event!
And don’t forget the evening entertainment!

Luckily the Battle of the Foamies will be immense fun regardless of the actual surf conditions because those waves are looking real small again!
Saturday will likely see not much more than knee high gliders at our main breaks but hopefully allowing some clean if tiny little swell lines through to Harlyn, enough to test those foam board surfing heroes!
While the weather should continue to be hot and sunny and gorgeous.
And then it’s all change for Sunday!
The wind is likely to remain offshore, from the east north east, a bit blustery in the morning and then calming through the day as rain clouds gather and thundery downpours threaten.
The surf is going to stay small but bigger than it has been with a thicker one to two feet of offshore shaped peelers tempting you in!
And then a new week continues the bright and cheerful weather and small but well shaped surf.
The temperatures might be lower and the air fresher but otherwise summer seems settled!   Have a great weekend, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!
