The wind is blowing hard again this morning, an almost direct southerly blustering across the bays bringing a wild look to the bouncing, grey surf after yesterday’s calmness.
Ah, if only that wind was a degree or two to the east, then we would be seeing some thick and hollow surf this morning – but it’s not.
It is mild enough out there though.
Harlyn (3*): 3 feet
The wind is gusting straight offshore at Harlyn this morning, fussing its way into the faces of a decent three feet of curling and walling, snapping surf.
Long right handers are zipping off the Rock – well, those that aren’t shutting down across the entire beach that is – but if you pick the right ones then you should get some hollow screamers.
The pushing tide should add a little more size to it all as well, bringing in some chunky old barrels by this afternoon!

A booming swell is likely to be battering our coast line in the morning but that roaring wind should gradually ease as the day goes on.
Harlyn is likely to be firing on all cylinders by mid afternoon if you can safely socially distance your way into the lineup.
Conditions for the Start of the Week
The calm and settled conditions of last weekend will soon be replaced by livelier conditions brought in by gusting southerly winds.
Those winds will be bringing plenty of mild and damp air over us while helping a thumping winter groundswell on its way to our shores.
Although Monday will see a calm continuation of light breezes with that same chunky four foot swell, Tuesday will show that gusting southerly wind blustering ashore while a booming swell continues to build and strengthen.
By midweek we should be seeing some majestic swells pounding our shores, those waves getting into the double or triple overhead size scale as they roar our way. Keep an eye on it through the afternoon, that wind could drop to nothing quite suddenly and then conditions could quickly become exceptional – to those fit enough, experienced enough and keen enough that is!
But the real excitement is going to be next weekend and beyond.
Steady and even groundswells are forecast to be rolling our way to meet light and pleasant offshore breezes!
That could just be very special!
But before that we will have a day or two of ho-hum kind of stuff at Harlyn, that same old three to four foot kind of surf that always keeps us entertained!
