A grey sky is covering us this morning, a light sou’ westerly breeze keeping temperatures higher than they have been while ruffling and crumbling the two to three feet of easygoing surf.
The tides are still in that really big spring range and it’s pretty much high right now, making the bay way too deep to allow those little waves to break. But you can see promising little peaks here and there, suggesting that it will all improve as the tide eases back out. Especially with the forecast of light offshores by midmorning.
We could just be enjoying some pleasant little gliders by lunchtime!
Harlyn (0*): 0 to 1 foot
Tiny little waves are spilling onto the sand on a 7.5 metre high tide this morning, the breeze tickling the smooth and glassy faces of those mini waves.
It would be so good if Harlyn could just keep that kind of shape when it’s a more rideable size!
Yes, it is all very pretty but not really big enough to surf.

South westerly winds and a three foot swell always points to small but crisp and clean, sharp surf at Harlyn.
It’s not going to be big or anything but should be fun!
Surf Conditions for the Start of the Week
After staring out gently with light offshore breezes helping the surf to look and break its best, the wind is going to shift to the south west for most of the rest of the week.
And so with the swells building into the four to five foot range by midweek, Harlyn is looking like the goto break locally.
And pretty good Harlyn it should be too!
Three to four feet of offshore shaped quite crunchy surf should tempt us all in, the weather feeling quite mild after last week’s mini-freeze.
Yep, a pleasant week of fairly typical Harlyn surf awaits, with smaller but cleaner conditions expected for next weekend.
