Another dull and overcast but calm and peaceful morning is matching the mood of a morning after the Bank Holiday before. The camp sites are emptier, the car parks deserted and most mansion driveways carless.
Autumn is coming!
And the surf is better than it has been for a while, which isn’t saying much considering it has been pretty rubbish for some time.
But some fun looking three to maybe four foot peaks are bouncing into the bay just ahead of a reasonably high spring tide, the lightest of breezes drifting in from the south west, just strong enough to not let those waves be as clean as we would prefer.
But it is okay looking and a handful are already out grabbing some drops and longish rides.
Harlyn (2*): 1 to 2 feet
A foot or occasionally two feet of high tide crumbled and slightly ruffled, fairly weak looking little waves are trying to break as high tide approaches, that depth of water absorbing most of the energy from those little waves.
Give it an hour or two and it should all be a little snappier. Still small and maybe not competing with the other side for our attention but surfable and probably good fun for the stragglers who haven’t quiet finished holidaying and the gross still on school holidays.

Surf Forecast for Wednesday 29th August 2018
Today’s small and fairly weak little swells are going to be crumbled by more light onshores but the late summer sunshine is probably going to make it all look more attractive, as it does.
It might be case of dragging out the longboard but we should find enough little surf to get going on!
Surf Conditions for the Start of the Week
We have almost seen the back of those annoying north westerly winds, almost but not quite. The week is likely to start with those same north westerly winds blowing in and making a mess of an already weak little three foot swell. But by Tuesday we should be enjoying some calm offshore breezes, small surf and very pleasant weather. But just as we relax, that north westerly returns to chill the air and chop the surf, a gentle reminder that Autumn is suddenly not so far away.
And then it all comes good for week’s end.
Fine weather, light breezes, bright sunshine and small but hopefully big enough, prettily shaped surf should cheer us all up for those last few days of the school holidays.
