At 6.15 a.m:
Constantine (1*): 4 to 5 feet
The wind is howling at the thick bundles of cloud as they go scudding across the ocean this morning, the bay being sandblasted by that heavy onshore westerly.
A three to four feet mess of choppy and sloppy surf is being bundled onto the sand, the seabirds screeching for breakfast as the those waves bounce around them.
It is atmospheric down fun the bay this morning but I don’t think that it’s the place for an enjoyable surf today.
But then again, maybe high tide will show something better? HTC can be fun in a howling onshore wind!
Harlyn (3*): 2 to 3 feet
A couple of feet of tired looking surf has made it around the headland and into Harlyn this morning, the wind screeching westerly, blowing into those tiny peaks down the far end of the beach. The odd bigger wave is closing down off the Rock making you think that there might be better to come through the morning.
And the sun is shining in between those windswept downpours which always helps to make it a little more attractive!

That same thick and windswept, four foot swell should continue to be pushed into our bays and coves by that gusting westerly wind.
The few sunny spells that we will see might keep getting cut Shortt by those showers, plenty of thick cloud tumbling around the sky looking to empty themselves above you.
But Harlyn usually shines on days like this.
The wind is likely to be too westerly again to allow those Harlyn waves to be great today but it should be fun enough and big enough to not want to pass.
Surf Conditions for the Start of the Week
There is a certain irony about the way that the weather has behaved during the whole ‘lockdown’ saga. And now it is seemingly having a little chuckle to itself as we all come tentatively crawling out of self-isolation.
After weeks and months of fine and settled, hot and sunny weather, yes we are about to be blown and shaken by blustering onshore winds. And those winds are going to be dragging some heavy showers with them throughout this week!
So, those damp westerly winds are going to be blowing hard into the start of the week, backing sou’ westerly as we go into midweek, twitching a little north westerly maybe through Thursdayish before settling to the south west for a hard blow to end the week.
If you like biggish and lumpy, windswept surf this is going to be your week! And if you prefer something a bit shapelier and snappier then you’re going to be spending a lot of time surfing Harlyn this week.
And even over there it’s going to be a little lumpy and bumpy to start with.
But with water temperatures rising, a consistent four feet plus of rolling swell pushing along the coast and the weather offering a few bright moments here and there, what’s not to like!?
We can be surfing all day every day in these conditions!
