at 6.30 a.m:
A sullen and overcast, quite dreary morning is attempting to shake itself up and brighten but that might take a little time just yet.
The wind is a bit blustery still, blowing in from the south west in fits and starts, lighter than it has been but still fresh enough to have its effect on the surf.
So a rolling couple of feet of surf is washing in, those waves close together, the wave faces clean but within a jumbled mess at about half tide. Those rain squalls are smoothing the sea’s surface when they arrive, cutting down on visibility but stilling the wind momentarily.
Give it an hour or two and it should all be brighter and drier, those dark rain clouds are being busily pushed along by that same wind. We could very well be enjoying a bright and breezy day by lunchtime!
Harlyn (1*): 1 foot
There’s a foot or two of surf managing to find its way in here this morning, weak looking little sets of waves looking a bit unsure as to where they’ve found themselves. There’s a bit of backing off and then reforming going on, that stuttering kind of leftover surf that sometimes surprises itself by being here.
So there is a bit of fun to be had and it should get just a little better as the tide rises, especially if the swell does build as the forecast sites are showing.
But, if that swell doesn’t arrive then I’m guessing that it could all but disappear as soon as the tide drops!

Surf Forecast for Sunday 10th May 2015
South sou’ westerly winds should continue to rattle along the coast bringing that mild and brighter weather with it and pushing along three feet or so of rolling swell.
It’s going to be another one of those day to decide between three feet or so of mixed up and washy west facing beach breaks, or smaller but cleaner and tidier sheltered spots. Constantine versus Harlyn locally.
But it is nice to have a choice!
Surf Conditions for the Weekend
A bright and cheery weekend awaits but, as ever, the wind is likely to control where the best waves might be!
Friday saw a drop in surf size with offshore winds creating some pretty but really very small surf. That wind slid onshore though, making for for messy stuff through the afternoon.
And that’s likely to be where the wind stays for the weekend.
Saturday is likely to be three feet or so but with a westerly, onshore wind making for bumpy and choppy conditions at the main surf breaks, small and weak at the sheltered breaks. After a wet ’n maybe windy start, it should be brighter and milder by midmorning which always helps, that spring sunshine settling in as the weekend unfolds.
By Sunday the wind is likely to have backed completely to the south, maybe even the south east for a moment or two early in the morning. And Sunday morning should be bright and warm and pleasant too! If the wind does behave itself then we might just luck into some very pleasant two to three feet of clean surf. Or, if the wind skips straight to the south west, we could be surfing small but sharp and snappy Harlyn!
