Constantine (2*):  3 to 4 feet

A steady sou’ westerly breeze is lightly blowing drenching rain across the bay this morning, that kind of superfine wetness that clings and soaks but is strangely quite cosy in the right waterproofs.
That breeze is strong enough to stir the three or four feet of rolling surf that is scouring even more sand from the high tide line, the dumping shore break scooping lorry loads at a time. As the tide drops back we should see some rideable surf but it’s likely to be that lumpy, bumpy and unpredictable kind of stuff that gets you in but doesn’t completely satisfy the stoke.
So, it looks like a shuffle over to Harlyn to see what’s happening there…..

Harlyn (3*):  2 to 3 feet

The super high tide is nudging the road’s tarmac at Harlyn this morning, set waves embroidering the shoreline in debris.
The breeze is offshore but the high tide depths are creating a swirling backwash which is bouncing the three foot surf into fun looking peaks.
As the tide drops out we should see a sharpening of conditions, the swell starting to build in size on this afternoon’s tide.
Those grey waves are going to be fun and are going to get bigger as we go through the day and the week, so you might as well accept that Harlyn is going to be the place to be!

Surf Forecast for Thursday 11th April 2024

Light south westerlies will be stirring the bigger swells at our better surf breaks today, putting a bump and lump into those otherwise inviting swells.
So Harlyn is going to be offering the cleanest conditions with an expected three or four feet of clean and sharp waves to test your speedy reflexes, especially on those low tide close-outs!
The weather? Well, what do you think? Wet and greyish of course!

Surf Conditions for the Rest of the Week

Another damp and windy, rest of the week is promised again with Storm Kathleen having kicked up her skirts and flinging a humping but windswept swell our way and then with storm Pierrick chasing in behind. But conditions should now settle for a while with calmer conditions expected, south westerly winds bringing in milder air temperatures and, yes, more rain.
Six to eight feet of wind messed surf will be rolling our way through the back half of this week, those south westerly winds making a mess of the waves at our main surf breaks for most of the week. The winds won’t be as strong as they have been this winter but there will be enough to mess up the surf at all of our major surf breaks.
And so Harlyn will be our surfing saviour once again for the rest of this week, the waves getting big enough here, especially on the afternoon’s rising tide and becoming sharp and tubey, especially at low tide.
There will be some decent spinning waves coming through for most of the time to make it all worthwhile!
Stay safe, stay happy, stay well and have the very best week, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing!
