Constantine (0*):  4 to 6 feet

The wind has eased again this morning, there’s still a fresh nor’ wester blowing and it is still moaning and groaning as it shakes the hedges but it’s nothing compared to the last how long.
The weather has eased a little too, there are still a few marauding downpours scurrying across the horizon, grey squalls shadowing the otherwise bright enough sky but it all looks promising enough for midwinter.
And of course the surf is a junked out mess again and smaller too with three to four feet of onshore chopped and slopped, weaker looking waves bouncing their way to the sand. It looks cold, it looks weak and it does not look like much fun!
And the south coast has probably dropped a lot in size too. Still, it could be worth the drive.

Harlyn (0*):  3 to 4 feet

Three feet or so of weaker looking waves are crashing ashore every now and then, the wave period being a little random, probably a sign of different swells colliding with each other and then stirred by that still fresh north westerly wind.
No, it’s not that enticing this morning. Give it a day or so though and we should see some proper Harlyn action again, that wind is forecast to change soon enough.

Surf Forecast for Saturday 20th January 2018

We had hoped to see a wind-shift by morning and so we should but it might be too early.
In the early morning darkness that wind is probably going to drop to a breeze and shift offshore for a couple of hours but i’m guessing that by daylight we are probably going to be suffering from more north westerlies, lighter than they have been but still strong enough to chop the three feet or so of surf at all of our breaks.
Let’s hope that it switches to the south west soon enough, at least Harlyn could show some shape if it does!

Surf Conditions for the Weekend

We might just see something a little more (but only a little more!) comfortable this weekend.
The wind should have calmed and switched by Saturday, maybe even slipping offshore on a sunny Saturday morning, if only for a while and if very early. But that should allow the three feet or so of swell to dance merrily in the sunshine and entice us in for a more relaxing surf than we have seen for a while.
Make the most of that because the wind will soon strengthen again but eventually blowing from a much more useful south westerly direction and so pushing some more milder weather our way while also strengthening the surf and usefully cleaning up Harlyn! That might not happen until lat on Saturday or even early Sunday morning but it should happen!
Yep, we can look forward to a fun Harlyn Sunday with three to four feet of happy hollowness to greet us (even if it does turn out to be a bit great and dull and wet and dreary!).
